MTV Brand and Website goes for Makeover

After slew of recent website makeovers like Ibnlive, NDTV, Indiatimes etc MTVindia.com follows them.

However, story here is bit different. It is the complete brand MTV that is being revamped. So what is new…. for the starters its no longer MTV enjoy!

Now the punch line is… its my MTV. Channel head indicate shift from generic music channel to a Youth Channel. The new programming will include shows on food, alternative careers, style, etc.

“This is part of a plan by parent Viacom, which also owns English music channel VH1 and children’s channel Nickelodeon, to revamp its channels following its tie-up with broadcast house TV18.”

Started a decade and a half ago, MTV has of late focusing more towards non-music content. It became the first music channel to air the soap, Kitni Mast Hai Zindagimade by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, which actually bombed.

Existing shows like MTV Bakra, MTV Artist of the Month, Big Picture, Kickass Mornings will have a new look. Also, look out for a new VJ Mia Mia.

Coming to the website, MTVindia has new colorful look instead of all orange-green look. Also, number of sections has trimmed to like: MTV Crazy Sexy Cool.com, MTV Saturday Shuffle, MTV Enjoy, no more, What’s my MTV?

It seems focus is more on user interactivity with comments flashing prominently on the homepage of the website.Don’t blame them, in this world web 2.0 this has become norm or I would say fashion. I still believe MTV… enjoy! MTVIndia Website
