When Google ‘Knol’ was first announced most felt Wikipedia killer is on the loose. Since app wasn’t live it was all speculation and nothing seen, confirmed or tried. Well, wait is over as Google Knol goes live at knol.google.com
The Knol project is a site that hosts many knols “units of knowledge” written about various subjects. The authors of the knols can take credit for their writing, provide credentials, and elicit peer reviews and comments.
Users can provide feedback, comments, related information. So the Knol project is a platform for sharing information, with multiple cues that help you evaluate the quality and veracity of information.
Knols are indexed by the big search engines (that’s Kool) and well-written knols become popular the same as regular web pages. The Knol site allows anyone to write and manage knols through a browser on any computer.
You can write on any topic and your writing won’t be edited to enforce a particular viewpoint. You can still write on topic already covered by other authors (of course if you have different viewpoint). There is easy to use web based editor to write stuff on Knol platform.
