Gmail team just bumped up another feature of ‘tasks’ as a part of Gmail labs feature. It is very own light weight ‘to-do-list’ task manager within Gmail. It allows you to add any email to task list and track it easily.
To get started, enable ‘tasks’ option by going to settings > Labs. You can select any email message and then click “More Actions” > “Add to Tasks” – this will convert an email into a task. You can also pop out the task window like we do with chat window. Here is more to get comfy with ‘tasks’ in gmail.
“… ENTER creates a new task, TAB and SHIFT-TAB indent and un-indent, CTRL-UP and CTRL-DOWN let you reorder from the keyboard, and SHIFT-ENTER toggles back and forth between the detailed view for a task and the main view.”
“… After turning Tasks on, turn on Keyboard shortcuts in “Settings > General” and then use “SHIFT-T” to create tasks from your emails – even faster than using the More Actions menu.”
Integrated task manager in Gmail sounds very good for occasional users. For heavy users, this could be too basic and ‘experimental’ – what say?
