3 Tiny Utilities to Monitor & Manage Registry Changes

Registry is heart of your Windows based computer. It holds address and values of each application you install on the computer. Registry corruption can bring your Windows down with limited options of restoring registry leading to Windows reinstall.

For an average computer user, registry can be scary concept and registry editor can be more scary place to fiddle around. Any wrong change can bring Windows down (second reminder, we tend to do this a lot).

Following are 3 tiny standalone utilities to monitor and manage registry changes with cleaner and more user friendly interface.

1. RegFromAppIt allows you to monitor Registry changes made by the application that you selected and creates a standard RegEdit registration file (.reg) that contains all the Registry changes made by the application. You can use the generated .reg file to import these changes with RegEdit when it’s needed.

This utility works on Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista (32-bit only). This does not require installation, simply run the executable file – RegFromApp.exe (35.7kb)

2. RegScannerIt is an alternative to Window’s RegEdit find and search which is more flexible and easy to use. It allows you to scan the Registry, find the desired Registry values that match to the specified search criteria, and display them in one list.

This utility display the entire search result at once, so you don’t have to press F3 in order to find the next value It works in any version of Windows from Windows 98 to Windows Vista.

3. CleanAfterMeIt allows you to easily clean files and Registry entries that are automatically created by the Windows operating system during your regular computer work. CleanAfterMe is a portable app that can run from a USB drive.

It can clean the cookies/history/cache/passwords of Internet Explorer, the ‘Recent’ folder, the Registry entries that record the last opened files, the temporary folder of Windows, the event logs, the Recycle Bin etc. Works on Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003 and Vista.
